OUR FOUNDER

EPI was founded by Mr Toh Ching Seh on 11 May 1976, the company which he had led and served as Managing Director for the past 40 years. Before returning to set up EPI in Malaysia, Mr Toh acquired a strong technical background in chemical engineering and the paint industry through experience acquired in Taiwan, Singapore, Indonesia.

Mr Toh graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree (Hons) in Chemical Engineering from National Taiwan University in 1968 after obtaining a scholarship from the country’s most prestigious university. Upon graduation, Mr Toh joined Tatung Company at its Paint Division, a Taiwanese multinational conglomerate founded in 1918, upon recommendation by the Dean of NTU’s Chemical Engineering Faculty. At Tatung, Mr Toh developed his foundation in the business and was extensively involved in the formulation and production of insulating varnish, a product that would eventually become one of EPI’s first product. After Tatung, Mr Toh would go on to occupy various leadership positions at leading paint companies in Singapore and Indonesia before eventually establishing EPI.

Under Mr Toh’s leadership, EPI has built a strong reputation over the years for the quality of its products and level of after-sales service. The company’s relatively small size enables it to be highly responsive to customers’ varied demands while still delivering top-quality products at great value. Going forward, EPI continues to welcome foreign partnerships through joint ventures and/or licensed distributorships, and is especially keen on collaborative opportunities in the marine paint sector.
